Description
A bold adult Black-capped Chickadee perched on a branch on a cold winter afternoon. It is a common songbird in North America.
It is able to lower its body temperature during cold winters. Its spatial memory helps it to relocate the food it stashes away. They are very approachable near humans and they have landed and eaten out of my hand.
The black-capped chickadee does not build a nest as traditional birds, but rather nest in tree holes. They forage for seeds on plants or bird feeders.
