Portrait of the Statue of Brother Andre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Brother Andre Bessette (Aug. 9, 1845 - Jan. 6, 1937), was a humble Canadian credited with healing thousands of sick. Brother Andre founded Montreal's St. Joseph's Oratory in 1904. He died in 1937 and was soon called the "Miracle Man of Montreal". He was canonized as a saint by Pope Benedict XVI in 2010. He was the first saint born in modern-day Canada.
